This is something that I used to do on another blog that I had, but since that blog is dead (and being redirected to here) then I thought it would be good to continue the series.
Basically this series work by me picking a very cool car and then giving you some background info on it and all the nice and juice specs. I’ll also find an example of the car for sale somewhere online and put up the specs and price of the car that I have been blabbing about.
This week’s car of the week is the stunning Porsche 930 Flatnose. The Porsche 930 was manufactured between 1974 and 1989, but the Flatnose version was not built until demand for the 911 Turbo increase towards the end of the 80’s and Porsche deceded to special edition version of the Turbo.
Although the new Flatnose 911 Turbo demanded higher prices over the standard models, the Flatnose 930 was not mechanically that different from its standard brother, with the engine and the 4 speed gearbox staying the same in both cars.
Only the later 930 Turbo’s were given an uprated 5 speed gearbox coupled together with a new 3,3 flat 6 turbo engine producing an impressive (even for today’s standards) 334bhp. This propelled the Flatnose 911 turbo to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds.
As you would expect from a rare early Porsche 911 Turbo, prices for these cars are not cheap, but I have spotted a beautiful example for sale in Pistonheads at the moment that was originally built for Ron Dennis in 1986. The car has only covered 2k miles and is truly one of a kind. It is a bit of a shame that the car has not been able to be used for what it was originally designed for, but we are now let with a perfectly ‘mint’ example of an already rare car.
If you interested in giving this wonderful car a new home, you’ll be happy to know that the asking price is only a mere £80,000.
Now sit back and enjoy some automotive pornography.
